| A group of around 60 migrating Yellow-faced Honeyeaters was flurrying around between cover in the small vegetated strip between Botany Bay and Foreshore Road. Not much habitat there for them, but I suppose it's not a bad spot to hold up after an exposed flight over the Bay and the Airport. |

| Great day out of Port Stephens today, with 17 species recorded outside of the heads (including an adult White-bellied Sea-eagle that aborted an attempt at taking a shearwater). Highlights were singles of White Tern, Brown Booby, Buller's Shearwater and Buller's Albatross. There was a good supporting cast of sea monsters, with four huge Mobula Rays (possibly Chilean Devil Rays) seen half way out, a Minke Whale and one of the most endearing pods of Pantropical Spotted Dolphins we've ever had, being ~65-strong and playing/surfing wind waves etc before doing a synchronised departure porpoising as they left, which really felt a lot like a parting gesture. |

| The Britannia Seamount (NSW waters) Trip led by Paul Walbridge out of Southport 6-8/4/2014, enabled 6 observers to see an extraordinary number of seabirds. The trip report showed that there were New Caledonian (25), Band-rumped (6), Black-bellied (1), Wilson's (174) and White-faced (5) Storm-Petrels; White-necked (9), Tahiti (138), Kermadec (30), Gould's (7), Providence & Grey-faced Petrels; Wedge-tailed, Flesh-footed, Hutton's & Short-tailed Shearwaters; White-tailed Tropicbird (4) , Red-footed Booby (2), White Tern (13), Sooty Tern 79, Common Noddy (4), and Lesser Frigatebird.(1). | Interesting sight of an Osprey settling on a submerged sandbank in the middle of the cove, and drinking at length from the muddy brown water, presumably now only marginally brackish, if at all, after the recent deluge.
A pair were cruising over the cove on the 4th, before the heavy rains, but I didn't expect to see one return when fishing conditions were not exactly ideal! |

| Habitat sighting: ALERT: Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot primary food source Grey Box blossoming. The Grey Box woodland to the north of the NPWS HQ and the old silos is starting to bloom well for the first time since 2019. Many lorikeets and seven species of honeyeater had found the food source and it is important to alert birders to this food source for the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot. Regents have found flowering banksia and grevillea close to Scheyville in the last couple of years. |

| This morning saw an Osprey perched beside the reservoir being the first time I have seen one at this site and within the Blacktown LGA (this being my 254th bird for the Blacktown LGA)..
Also seen was a Striated Heron (only my 3rd location for this species in the LGA), at least 5 Great Crested Grebes, a Spotless Crake, at least 4,000 Coots, 2 Silver Gulls etc. |

| Last few days there have been flocks of up to 20 Friarbirds moving north. This morning the Honeyeaters have appeared, including one flock of near 80 Yellow-faced with a few White-naped thrown in. | Approximately 40 Magpie Geese at edge of dam, with 3+ Plumed Whistling-Ducks, 1+ Masked Lapwing and one White-necked Heron. Adult Black-necked Stork present on 26 March. Geese have been present from at least 17 February while up to 100 Geese are still at the regular location on the Big River Way (Old Pacific Highway) at Clarenza, near South Grafton. |

| A reasonable late March day out of Port Stephens with 15 species of birds recorded outside of the heads (and not associated with the islands). Nothing really outstanding, but good to see a couple more autumn Buller's Albatrosses - this species is cementing itself as an "any month" bird. Moderate (~50) numbers of Wilson's Storm-petrels were present but nothing different could be distinguished among them. The day belonged to the sea monsters though, with six species of cetacean identified, plus an unidentified distant whale. We had our first Risso's Dolphin since June 2015 and our third ever pod of Pygmy Killer Whales, which showed well right alongside "Imagine". We also had a Striped Marlin free-jumping not long before the Risso's showed, plus a group of five Mahi Mahi and a Remora swimming at the stern, clearly seen by all at the rear of the boat. |
