Notes:A progressive list of all the bird species seen in Victoria during 2009. This list excludes pelagic species i.e. birds seen at sea while on a boat. My aim was to see over 335 species, the 2006 record. My final total was 345, a NEW Victorian record!!! No one else has ever seen as many bird species in a calender year in Victoria. Please note that there are several bird on this list which are not counted in the final year list (in terms of birds seen in Victoria during 2009). These include Plumed Whistling-Duck, Sooty Owl, Wandering Albatross, Great-winged and Wedge-tailed Shearwater, Indian Peafowl, Madarin Duck, Little Stint (a Red-necked Stint) and Common Diving-Petrel (9 in total).
