Sun 20Blue-faced Honeyeater
Kewarra Beach / Cairns
Noticed that there are few sightings reported of Blue-faced Honeyeaters in Cairns. None since 2011. Had 2 landing in my garden this morning (1 male & 1 juv), but they received a rather hostile reception by the locals including Spangled Drongos. Saw another two about 5 minutes later and again flying in from the mountains, but unsure whether just the same birds.

Wood Sandpiper
Karumba - Normanton Road
Possible Green Sandpiper, needs confirmation. Subsequently identified as a Wood Sandpiper in breeding plumage. Supercilium going well beyond eye, pattern of checks on back rather than spots as in Green Sandpiper.
